It would have been the original anime and if anyone sees me say this they'll have my head on a platter but god no. I watched the entirety of FMA oh, a couple of years ago and fuck is it an example of bad storytelling.
I haven't seen FMA Brotherhood so I can't comment on it, but it would be difficult for it to have been worse.
