Nov. 17th, 2024 09:36 pmIt is lazy Sunday!
Tuesday is visiting, which is a very good thing, and we have frittered the day away by playing video games and fucking around and snuggling on the couch and stuff. But we did some constructive things! We made and ate scrambled eggs for breakfast (it was a very fancy looking breakfast, with nice toast and grapefruit as well). We played Inscryption together (which is to say, parallel play of both of us playing at once).
Most importantly, we watched Over the Garden Wall, since Tuesday had never seen it. I've been watching it recently with Austin as well, but slower, and we're only about halfway through. Tues and I did it in one big chunk! It's a really satisfying story either way. Such a beautiful love letter to Americana and western animation and the 1980s. Also it has many frogs! (I do like a frog).
I am glad that it exists, and so so sad that it seems to have been such a singular event. Like, the idea of a stand-alone ten episode work of art, aired over five nights and then meant to be cherished and rewatched as a single lovely DVD set...that's a really good thing to exist!
(I continue to be deeply disappointed that Middleman never got a second seasons, but the fact that the story is more or less wrapped up with episode 12, that it feels like one story...that's really good, because it never sucked. The work of art is complete! Sometimes it's good to just have a single complete story.)
So it's been a pretty great day. Am I worried that I don't seem to have done enough with my life? I mean, yeah, but that's always, and we're starting to find the right brainspace to work on that sort of thing. Mostly I am just happy to spend time snuggling on the couch and being enthusiastic about art together.
