Wednesday at Tuesday's
Jun. 19th, 2024 11:52 pmI am in Providence to hang out with Tuesday!
This was always part of the vague plan for this week --I have so many _vague plans_ right now, and very few actually solid ones, and maybe that's okay, maybe I should accept that I am currently in "recovery from burnout" phase and that's not a bad space to be. Do the healing, etc.
Anyways, it was always part of the vague plan, but it got a hella boost when they mentioned that they have today off. I set my alarms to be up and out of the house in time to catch the 10:30 train, and then realized I was pretty much like...packed and ready to go a full hour before that. I've not tried to go to Providence on a weekday before, it is like...so much easier? There are a lot more trains? Anyways, because I was ready so early, I swooped off and got the 9:30 train instead and managed to correctly vibes my way to Tuesday's apartment.
(I did have to look up the secret keycode, but I'm pleased that I only looked at the map once, at the train station. I've been about twice before? So this was good pattern recognition and lining up of places I'd been in the past.)
Our day today has been very very mellow indeed, and has mostly consisted of me playing Inside while Tuesday watched and gave occasional commentary. It's kinda fun to have a partner who watches me play video games, this is a form of socialization I'm very familiar with from the other end. It is how I bond with my middle sister, after all, but also like...a fond thing I do occasionally with other people. (I still prefer LPs to streaming, although I'm not positive we call pre-recorded youtube videos "Let's Play"s anymore.)
Inside was neat, and I found the very last stage *fantastic*. I know mom was playing Limbo (same company, not literal same canon, but similar aesthetics) around Chrimbo, I may have to recommend this one to them. I was very very bad at the quick-timing to do many of the puzzles (in part because I had a bad controller setup despite Tuesday offering several times to remap the keyoard for me --but only in part, some of it is I am just bad at twitch.) I did find several of the secret rooms that Tuesday hadn't --I think 8 out of 13 secrets total (I looked the rest up afterwards).
Other than that it's just been snuggling and making food and spending time close to each other in parallel play. This is good! I have been struggling some in the house, which feels like it has So Many Things that need doing, being somewhere else is making vacation feel more accessible.
Tomorrow I will hang aroundand play Slay the Spire the entire time and maybe try to get a little work done on my laptop. The hardest Pinewoods ride coordination resolved itself, so while I still need to do a bunch of followup emails, they're now all easier to manage. My email inbox is still woeful, but I'm clawing back. I need to rewrite my program for scots Pinewoods --not change any of the dances, just literally pull up the originals and rewrite them to be Larks/Robins instead of Men/Women. Oh, and tomorrow closes the genderneutral role terminology survey the Boston RSCDS branch is doing. Responses have slowed way down, so I haven't been feeling the need to look and scream as much. That's a Friday activity, ideally with company.
Happy Summer. I hope you are staying cool.
