Jul. 13th, 2023 03:08 amToday mek and I finished playing a round of Mario Party...3? I think maybe 3? It was definitely an older one, and we were much worse at it when we started last night, on very little sleep. Well, mek was worse, I had gotten more sleep *and* am just more generally shit at video games, so my skill level didn't change as drastically today.
For productive chores, we went to the grocery store and fixed my computer, and then stayed mostly the fuck inside because it is Very Hot in Sacramento right now. I sorta missed optimal visiting weather by a week, and now we will be flirting with three digit temperatures. So if you hear a _lot_ about me playing video games, remember that it is both my summer vacation and the sky wants to kill me.
The other game we played today is called Plate Up, and it is similar to Overcooked in that you're doing a restaurant simulator. My chef is decked out with a pumpkin head as decoration, and mostly works back of house. mek's chef is emitting perpetual symbols of confusion (and hearts) and works front of house, including getting annoyed when I wander out and try badly to help. We just finished a quite good run of a pizza restaurant called "House of Broccoli" and "Pizza is the Only Thing" at various times. Tomorrow we might spread out our franchise to more parts of the world!
(it is fun playing cooperative video games with mek, because we have very compatible senses of humour, and so we build on each other's riffs very nicely. The fact that our restaurant was set up such that customers came in through the kitchen, plus the fact that I was running around with a knife much of the time, made it very clear that my chef was High As Balls On Something, which I'm given to understand is a staple of back of house.)
We've also been watching a lot of Overboard, because we both have a hopeless crush on Brian David Gilbert (and I, at least, also have a huge crush on Pat Gill). It's fun! They play board games together, and it is very entertaining to watch and laugh along at the group.
Yesterday was all transit all the time (including a long time on Very Late train, which was, admittedly, a couple hours of the most beautiful scenery I've ever been lucky enough to see). Tomorrow I have DnD. Other than that, the plans are stay out of the heat, keep fucking around in our virtual kitchen, maybe fuck around in the real kitchen, watch things, play things, laugh _a lot_ and generally be good to each other.
