Pub night!
Jul. 6th, 2023 04:44 amIt is pub night at ESCape, the night where we stay up late and sing songs together and drink beer and not beer.
Six years ago "today" (on pub night, regardless of actual date) I spent most of the singing standing up and leaning very close and entangled to a tall boy I'd met square dancing, and his partner. ESCape was sortof kindof the trial run for "do I want to have a crush on you?" and the answer turned out to be resoundingly yes. Cuddling with him and his partner, feeling welcomed by and connected to both, that was a big part of me the next night asking to walk him home and inviting him to kiss me outside his cabin.
(Austin and I will have been dating for six years as of this fall, and in two days he marries that amazing partner and I could not be happier for them both.)
Two years ago "today" (on pub night, regardless of actual date) I spent much of the singing sitting down and leaning very close and entangled with a cute person I'd met several years earlier at NEFFA because of Homestuck. We'd been chatting a lot more during the pandemic, and I'd certainly noticed they were ~cute~ but I hadn't at all expected to have a nice spark with them, much less having them walk me home to my cabin that night and kiss me sweet.
(Tuesday and I had our Pinewoods one-night-stand a few evenings later. It was a complete failure, in that our "one night" is currently at two years and counting.)
This year, I don't think I'm about to start a relationship with anyone, but I spent a lot of pub night cuddling with a not-officially-comet, with someone who I am very fond of and who is fond of me. We do very little to make our connection happen outside of being lucky enough to see each other in the same place sometimes, where we will be drawn like magents into holding hands.
There was also an amari tasting party, and jumping in the pond, and someone trying to bob for a can of beer, and a live frog that derailed the entire room, and singing and singing and SINGING and singing.
This is my home. <3
