Austin is visiting this weekend! Here are some things we have done today!
The first order of business (after helping him get out of the rain-soaked clothing and into comfy pyjama pants) was to eat a quick lunch and then be floppy and curled up together. We did the official "show each other photos from since the last time we hung" and I showed him a bunch of videos I've been retweeting because there have been some choice twitter the last few days.
Then was brief nap time on the bed, which was loooovely and went until it was time to make dinner! We did
illxmetxbyxmoonlight's lentil recipe, and rice in the rice cooker, and Austin made chipati (while I did not help in the slightest except to giggle as it inflated, because it's very cute!)
After dinner and cleanup there was a chess game, which I sorta half-assed. I didn't play badly, but I also wasn't up for a full learning game or anything, so we didn't like...undo and redo moves or reset and keep playing which we've done some times. Maybe tomorrow we can do that more intensely (although I continue to not actually be all that into learning chess I just really really like supporting Austin being excited. I'm not sure when we'll cross the threshold where the gap between us is enough that it's just not fun to play anymore.)
Then was upstairs and more flopping and just like...general chatting with each other while being warm and snuggly and safe and happy. Austin wound up finding me a symphony (because a small section was stuck in his head) and we listened to that and it was really cute!
Finally we wandered downstairs to eat ice cream and wound up doing playing-with-magnets as well. (I have a fair heap of the neodymium ones that just wound up being the center of attention tonight. I really enjoy having a partner I can play with! We built or failed to build several platonic solids.
Separate from Austin being here, I've had several other lovely things this weekend. Yesterday I went on a two hour masked-and-separated walk with Clara, where we wandered through Medford and around and back again. That was incredibly lovely and we talked about just about everything under the sun! Post dinner, I realized I was feeling a bit lonely and definitely had room work to do, so I called mom up and we chatted as I put away some laundry and straightened up my room. That was also an everything-under-the-sun talk and was very enjoyable!
I spent much of this morning trying to get a little more unpacked and unboxed before Austin's visit. I cleaned out most of the "decorations and toys" boxes --they're definitely stacked haphazardly and require organization, but they're no longer in boxes which is a great start! And best of all, my ponies are back up on a lintel where they belong (specifically the one between the hall and the dining room, which is right at the bottom of my staircase.)
I also decorated my little Christmas tree that I have. I don't really know how much and how I'm going to celebrate this year (I'm not traveling), but I've had the tree for basically ever since we moved out of the MD house, so why not? I have very few actual ornaments but quite a lot of earrings --you can see pictures over on twitter (scroll downthread).
The last of the "moving in" tasks is to start hanging art up, especially in my stairway. I'm really hoping I can do some sort of house/room tour (like I did about six months ago actually) sometime for like...a virtual housewarming?
And now it is time for me to go to bed because holy shit it's nearly three what the fuck. Goodnight y'all!
