Aug. 7th, 2020 02:02 amDisclaimer: This was written for the here-and-now. It would be a very different post if it were the school year and there wasn't a pandemic. Maybe in the future I will be able to write that post.
Here are some times and some things I am better/worse at doing at those times:
Wake-up: Roughly defined as the ~2 hours after I stop hitting snooze all the time on my morning alarm. Currently, that's generally from about 11am-1pm.
In wakeup, I am attuned to maintenance tasks --I naturally want to brush my teeth, eat breakfast, and get dressed and can usually be persuaded to shower. This is a good time to brush my hair, especially since I can do it before putting my hair up for the day. I also like to do very passive/low-energy internet consumption --reading webcomics is great for this time, reading redditships and twitterAITA, reading people's twitter and maybe facebook. I usually check my email and do a first pass, but don't respond to anything. I read DW comments, but mostly don't reply.
On days when I post in the #WhatDayIsIt channel on my discord server in a timely manner, the time I post it is probably the end of wakeup. (if I needed to be reminded, that no longer counts).
Morning: Essentially, solely wakeup, so I'm not going to write anything different. If I ever shift to a schedule where I'm consistently waking up before, say, tenAM, I'll reconsider.
Afternoon: About 1pm until 6pm, but can be shorter or longer.
Afternoon is the best time for me to leave the house and run errands. I am slightly more likely to go out if I'm able to string several errands together. This is also the best time for in-person hangout time, see errands, above. It's also a good time for me to go outside to eat lunch, which is usually a chance to eat and fuck about on my phone.
If I am not running errands, afternoon is generally a very hyperfocusy time. Playing music in the afternoon is _really_ useful for helping to direct me to Get Stuff Done, as is turning on voice-chat with friends (or video with a much more limited subset of friends). Big chores --like sorting papers, cleaning out my closet, packing-- all do well in the afternoon. I can do digital stuff too, but given the propensity to hyperfocus, it's a little risky to let me have access to internet/electronic stuff. If I was going to mandate no-electronic-hour, afternoon would be a good time for them.
Evening: About 6pm until, ~10pm. If I'm doing an activity (like bells, D&D, or dance), then evening starts and ends at the same time as the event.
Evening is tricky to pin down, because I'm tired from afternoon, and I don't wanna do much. Sometimes I wind up hyperfocusing, but it's likely to be on less constructive stuff --more like doom scrolling, or reading comic archives, or UnresolvedMysteries. I almost never want to do chores during evening. I should eat dinner, and usually do in this time frame (our household is on a pretty late dinner schedule).
It _can_ be an okay time to do active social stuff, like replying to emails and DW comments or reaching out to people, or checking up on Discord. It can also easily turn into doomscrolling though, so I need to be mindful.
Late: 10pmish until bedtime. I'm trying very hard to push my bedtime back to the "correct" 2am --I know time is meaningless right now, but I think I am happiest if I am sleeping 2am-10am.
Late is...less about hyperfocus and more about an inability to transition, if you can see the difference? Whatever task I have begun doing in late is probably the task I will do for all of late. Late tasks are almost always entertainment based --doomscrolling, Animal Crossing, reading, phone games. Sometimes I can break out of the entertainment and do a chore for a set amount of time, but then I will want to return to entertainments. (Tonight I successfully packed two boxen).
Bedtime: A subset of late. Bedtime is when I realize "crap, I need to sleep" and runs roughly from "whenever I write my words, to whenever I get into bed". Right now, I have an alarm for 1am that is my "you have an hour before bedtime" alarm, and that represents this span.
Bedtime is for doing daily tasks: I write my words, I brush my teeth, sometimes I wash the dishes (I'd like that to be more often, as would Ezri I'm sure). Sometimes I wind up doing entertainment tasks as part of bedtime, like reading twitter-reddit while brushing my teeth, or lying in bed and playing a game for a bit. Because I am consistent about plugging my phone in to charge at night, and because it is always plugged in at my desk rather than near my bed, I mostly do not do too-long entertainments. Sometimes I fuck up (see the note below).
I am not good about checking in with my dailies list on my clipboard, but I'd like to become so. It seems like the right time for it. I am frequently able to do a little bit of next-day planning, as part of writing my words.

An interesting observation about the pandemic that I am only just now having is the realization that I've only fallen asleep at my laptop a *very* few number of times in the past four months. I feel like that's the sort of thing that would happen to me between once a month and once a week under ordinary scheduling. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The best part of this pandemic for me by far is actually consistently getting eight hours sleep, every single night.
