Tonight we went to go see Eddie Izzard! I did not actually fall asleep during the set, which is honestly a Fucking Miracle1. I think it helps that I intentionally drank a coffeedrink late this afternoon to help with awakeness-management.

The set was really hopeful! Lots and lots of circling back to the fact that humans have to care and be better and look out for each other. Also lots and lots of circling back to people exploding. Or falling onto spikes. Oh Eddie.

There was a reference to my absolute favourite bit --in the midst of a meandering bit about superheroes (I love Izzard's comedic style very much because it feels extremely like having ADHD and telling stories) he mentioned evil giraffes taking all the leaves off the trees. Yesss good.

The bad part was that the show was hosted in a Casino, in Oklahoma. So now I can cross a new state off my "spent some amount of time in" list, as well as say that I've been in a Casino. The trip there wasn't bad at all --it was about 75 minutes driving each way, but that was just lots of playing Munzee and singing along to the "songs that make Greykell smile" playlist (a great many of which also make us smile).

Casinos turn out to be Fucking Nightmares, and I decided to learn this by going to the largest one in the country, so maybe that was not smart. But it's just...very loud, very bright, very bad-ADHD, and full of people smoking. I haven't been indoors in a place that smelled of smoke for that long in...ever?

Also we had a mental round of the "being girl-perceived is hard no matter what happens" in which a (couple of?) creepy dude put his hands on Alys's hips to try and move around her, and 1)omg no but 2) why aren't I good enough to get assaulted?2. My conclusion in the moment was "dark lipstick, dressed like a witch, actively using the murder strut to get through this space filled with people, no one is gonna fuck with me" but that just leads to the incredibly unfair situation of "why should girl-perceived people have to actively put on the murder-face to avoid getting assaulted?!" Dear dudes: Don't touch women you don't know. Definitely don't touch their hips or waists. If you have to touch them, maybe stick to upper arms, but also don't.

So yeah, Eddie Izzard was good, and being in a crowd that cheered enthusiastically when a "gender-fluid" joke was made was really good (I did not expect a positive audience reaction, and I'm thrilled) and casinos are Big Fucking Bad and forget entirely the gambling part, I don't want to spend any time _ever_ in a big crowded space that smells like smoking. Fuuuuuck that.

Tomorrow I might get to see wabbit and I will definitely get to play games and watch Taskmaster and stuff. But for now, I go the fuck to sleep!

MOOP!

1: Running in-joke: I fall asleep during Izzard's comedy all the time. I think it's brilliant, I love it, but something about the voice just soothes me.

2: This is maybe the worst thing my brain does to me? It's a pretty bad thing and I don't like it. It's also a very real thing as a girl-perceived person who only fairly rarely gets catcalled/harassed/assaulted. and wonders why my lived experience is so different from so many of my family and friends. 1) murder-face, 2) oblivious, 3) no tiddies. Still feels weird.

PostScript: Why have there been so many entries lately? Well, partly because I'm home, and so lacking more normal-place things to journal about, I'm being a lot more public-facing but *mostly* because I'm actually doing my words on the regular again, and as of today, I now have the longest continuous streak on 750words that I've had since June of 2016. 22 days.
