This post is a little bit of an aftermath/continuation to this post.

So.

I made rent for August. With about half-rent for September extra. Holy shit you people are wonderful.

On Monday night, I went to set my alarm, and glanced at my calendar and went "...wait." Because Tuesday was the first day for literally all of July where I didn't have anything scheduled1. Yes, that would be Tuesday the 31st. It's been...

Hectic. It's been really hectic and really busy and somewhat differently stressful. My entire calendar has become an elaborate juggling act, as I try to schedule things around each other (including the ever-difficult "leave enough time for transit") and optimize the amount of work I can do and money I can earn.

I've done at least a dozen random studies for assorted local psych departments. I spent one day span where I helped one friend pack up their copy of the book I was currently reading (along with everything else they owned), and then the next day helping a different friend UNpack their copy of the book I was currently reading (along with everything else they owned.)

I've babysat for friends. I babysat for strangers. I bagged 2500 copies of Win Lose Banana. I organized a library. I've scrubbed out tubs and toilets. I went to Chicago for a week, where I gave myself up to helping mom organize/unpack. I learned how to use a pushmower, and how to break a weedwacker2.

And somehow, through it all, I've still managed to keep my social. There are certain people I'm feeling deprived of, but on the whole, I have spent quite a lot of very nice time with friends this month.

So thank you, all of you, for jobs, for job leads, for support, for the reminders that I'm not the only one going through this and half of everyone I know has their own growing-up horror stories, for entertainment, for friendship, and for ice cream. You people are the best people.

SO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Next I...keep doing this. I've got about 32 jobs pending (maybe a dozen of them directly related to my field), and eventually one of them *has* to call me back, right? I need to figure out how to keep applying, and not give up even though it's exhausting. Less than effort, I need to find time --my schedule has been fascinating, and ultimately fun, but BUSY!

I'm gonna keep looking for and performing odd jobs3. Like I keep saying, I will do literally anything for enough money. If you have a problem that can be solved by throwing a person at it, drop me an e-mail and I'd love to see if we can work something out.

Honestly, I am enjoying helping people out, to the point where I'd happily just...do this as a mini-career for a year or two, if I thought it was remotely sustainable. But I don't want to strain anyone else's resources so don't make work for me. Just...if you have work, let me know.

(And do feel free to send me along to your friends if *they* need help. I'll work for strangers, sure!)

Word on the street is that teacher hiring season picks up right about...now, which is something I am trying very hard not to hope about. Also something terrifying because if I do get hired, GUESS HOW LONG I HAVE TO MAKE LESSONPLANS ohgod. So I give the caveat that if you arrange something with me this month, I *might* have to drop you for an interview4. The sooner the date planned, the less likely this is to happen, and I'll try very hard to work my interviews around my planned schedule rather than interrupting, but goddammit, job security and I don't think anyone who would hire me would begrudge me that opportunity.

(and I would give as much warning as possible, of course).

Anyways, the timer telling me I should get back to Today's Adventure just went off, so I'm gonna go do that. I might make a more organized master-post of things I have done and am willing to do, that can serve as some sort of magical odd jobs resume or something. Good gods, am I starting to get *serious* about this?

And I made rent. ee!

MOOP!

1: And I still had to get out to Harmonix by 5 PM for super-secret playtesting, and then there was Squares. But I didn't have to wake up at a specific time, and I wasn't doing anything that would pay me, so I'm counting it as my singular day off.

2: Okay, it wasn't actually my fault it broke, it was at the end of its lifespan and needs to get a new...string-wacky-thing. But it was disheartening.

3: This week: Lawnmowing & babysitting, housecleaning/organizing, moving & unpacking(?)
Next week: moving & unpacking(?), housecleaning, interning, interning(?), sekrits, interning(?), day off.
LIFE CONTINUES APACE, AND BY APACE, I MEAN OH GOD I AM BUSY BUT THIS IS AWESOME.

4: *knocks on wood* oh please oh please oh!
