Jul. 15th, 2012 09:14 amLast year, post-Pinewoods, I immediately slept for well over 14 hours. It probably wasn't particularly good for me or anything, but it is a thing I did, and it seemed to help my body recover from the ridiculous strain I had put on it (as much the being outside constantly as the actual dancing/swimming/hiking/canoeing nonsense).
This year I had no such luxury. I have been _doing things_ pretty much constantly since Pinewoods, and yes, the complete lack of a day off is completely awful, and maybe I will have a day off on Wednesday except I will probably go work in the bananamines if I can, or see if I can have other work.
(Because days off are for people who've made rent.)
And so yesterday evening, after running around in the very hot sun for far too long (not to mention biking, which was not that much biking, yet was still quite exhausting) and dodging fairy circles, and watching dragonflies and turtles, I pretty much collapsed atop Sparr on the couch. After about an hour, he was headed off, so he sent me to bed. Woke up around midnight to confirm that I wasn't getting back to my computer1, woke up around five and determined that no, no one gets up at five, even if they're awake then, and finally got up now, at nineish.
Next year, I build this recovery period into my schedule.
Today is a day of trying to get things done (with the help of Unfuck Your Habitat and then maybe dancing in the afternoon, which I won't bike to, because it's too brutal-hot out.

1: massive apologies to everyone who sent me messages I never responded to. I was rather under the impression that Vera goes to sleep when I leave her alone for half an hour or so, it is actively distressing that this is not the case, and I really wish I knew what was wrong.
