Incidentally, the last time I read about a waitress who makes up stories about her clients and writes them on a notebook, was in Sandman.
She died after being tortured for like twenty pages by this raving insane lunatic who escaped from the Asylum of DC Comic Villain Rejects and was manipulating people using the Sandman's weird crystal focus thing. And then the Sandman comes in and villain guy's all "Haha! You can't hurt me, I have your speshul crystal focus!" and the Sandman's like **GOTH** and villain guy's like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" and is defeated.
