Good morning!

Today's goals:

*Go to PicniCon for at least a little while and play board games and hang with the Lion Cub (having had a very nice time kicking ass at Encore last night with the older Lions)

*Do secret project that may or may not turn out well and that I will have to live with for a couple months regardless but I'm kinda excited about and have been meaning to do forever.

*Spray paint my stilts green.

*Go knife shopping with Sparr.

*Maybe make another metal thing to be a friend to Hoboken1

*PACK PACK PACK PACK PACK

*Shop! Subsets: Pinewoods ESC party materials (may wait until tomorrow morning early), mice prevention, trying not to be physically incapable of acquiring mice prevention.

*Errands for tomorrow: Further party gathering, Bananamines, meds.

Good plan!

1: Last night while playing Baron Munchausen, I assembled a tiny2 spider out of a sheet of metal. Her name is Hoboken, because I was playing Baron Munchausen, and it All Makes Sense In Context. She is fantastically adorable and gonna be attached to virtually everything I own at Pinewoods.

You can see a picture here!

2: She's about three inches long, so actually quite large for a spider --I imagine most people would not be thrilled to encounter a spider her size in real life! But she is very tame.

SO!
PROJECTS!

I have been surprisingly productive with interesting projects lately! Here are some of the things I have made! I will endeavor to get decent pictures posted at some point after Pinewoods.

*Faerie wings! I have made a brilliant pair of grey decaying faerie wings. They took me about an hour, and look fabulous and ridiculous and I quite like them. I can dance in them, because it's me, and you know how I keep my priorities straight.

(I do not yet know if I can dance *Scottish* in them. Yet is a very important word.)

Also, I have all the materials to make just a few more pairs. It will be interesting and fabulous if I can manage to swing the time management right and get 'em done. *Maybe* I will bring the equipment to make some of 'em at Pinewoods. We'll see.

*Stilts!!! This is far and away the most important of my recent projects, both because it is the biggest and because it is a circus art that I want to get much better at. I am already coming at it from a surprisingly high skill level --now my goal is to get Really Fucking Good. I figure being able to wander around extra-tall at Pinewoods will be good practice for that!

Anyways, I had my futureroommate Tam do a bunch of the cutting and drilling work on the stilts, but everything else --assembly, design, painting-- has been me. They're almost done! I only have to add the straps, the bottoms, and the cloth to mask the squishyfoam. Yayyyyyyy!

*Green hair! If you have known me for a very long time indeed, then you may know that my hair was once briefly green. It was very neon-bright, and pretty awesome, but unfortunately from that shitty time where I hated all pictures of myself because braces.

(And, you know, because teenager with requisite low self esteem. But I wore braces for the better part of eight years, getting them off about a week before graduation. Fuck. That. Noise.)

Anyways, around the time that green faded, I got myself some darker forest-green dye, to do the bottom of my hair in. And then I...didn't get around to it. For a while. BUT! the school year is finally over and I am not teaching summer school and besides, it's dark and I didn't bleach first so it's arguably "subtle" but the bottom 12-18ish inches of my hair are greeeeeeeen! I feel extremely happy about this accomplishment.

(Is there a word for the opposite of dysphoric? I feel that. I feel this is a step closer to what I actually look like.)

*Tiny metal spider! Her name is Hoboken! She is fabulous! I mentioned her already, but she hasn't stopped being great. Hopefully by the end of Pinewoods, she will have some buddies! (the next spider is going to be named Saturnalia, haven't decided about the dragonfly or mantis yet.)

Whew! This is a thing that feels really good, and therefore I should do a lot more of. You know, in my copious free time this summer. Next really big project? *grins and clops away*
