Acronyms and Words!
Jun. 14th, 2008 01:59 pmHey, I can inform and scratch off a Hiveminder goal, all at once!
Some acronyms and terms that the Sorcy uses regularly, or ought to use regularly.
NMK -- Not My Kink. Most of the time, I use this one in its full form, unless I know someone'll know what I'm talking about. Defines...most of kink, actually.
Fen-crush -- So, I'm in the fandom, and there are fen. And fen tend to be incredibly interesting, touch-friendly people. A fen-crush is a crush I have on someone where I don't actually ever want to get into a relationship with them, I just want to spend time with them and snuggle them and the like.
Con-boyfriend -- I don't think I've ever used this term anywhere other than inside my brainspace, mostly because I don't feel like explaining it. It's the logical next step up from fen-crush though --someone who I spend a huge amount of time being physically and emotionally friendly with, one or two weekends out of the year.
(I totally don't have anyone in mind here. Totally. >.>)
IAWTC -- I Agree With This Comment. Not an acronym I am supposed to use...well...ever, because it's a horrible waste of space, but sometimes I do anyways. And sometimes it leads into acronym wars. Bwahaha.
(CA?)MYOFB! -- (Consenting Adults?) Mind Your Own Fucking Business! Stolen librally from a magnent Magus has. It's basically my philosophy on sex, and most of life in general. Kinda the general "as long as it harms none, do what thou wilt" philosophy that I hold.
BtW -- Behind the Walls. Hokay, so I have walls. Big fucking mental walls, which I am slowly pulling down. (Trusting people = scary. Mental intimacy? REALLY scary.) BtW is anything that's not for public consumption --the phrase comes from the title of my diary. BtW can stand for the file itself, or something that comes from that file.
TGAoEaT -- The Grand Adventures of Eric and Tom. Webcomic that I talk about starting. Eric is a tomato, Tom is a tiki. They...have adventures. >.>
IIRC -- If I Recall Correctly
IMO -- In My Opinion
Iiral / eeral -- basterdizations of "IRL" which is 'in real life'.
Beearebee -- basterdization of "BRB" which is "Be right back".
dA -- deviantArt. Website I use to host art. See here.
TKatZ*** --Technically, it stands for "The Katters and the Zebra ***" I ocassionally use it to refer to the whole gang of people I hang out with on dA --core group is something like Katters, Zebra, Me, Tho, Har, Erika, and Ky.
The Pie Shop -- The other name for the group of people I hang out with on dA, also, the name of my single favourite chatroom.
elljay -- Basterdization of LJ.
PITA -- Pain In The Ass.
FITA / FUBAR -- Fucked in the Ass / Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. I haven't used the first one much since that horrible video project from eleventh grade social studies (is my stoned-hippie monologue on youtube yet?) but I'll throw the second around on ocassion.
qlife -- QuickLife. Defines about a third of all my livejournal posts (Yes, that number was completely arbitrary.) It originally meant just really short posts about my life, but it's gone on to include those posts where I post a dozen short things separated by asterixies.
SOs / CMs -- Significant Others / Contract Mates. My way of saying boy/girl/tranny/genderneutral/male only on Tuesday and Friday/whatever friend.
(N)SFW -- (Not) Safe For Work. I try to tag all videos, and to make sure my NSWF links are labelled. If a link I post is unlabelled, it's usually SFW, but sometimes things do slip through the cracks.
SCD / CVD / EA(S) / RSCDS --Scottish Country Dance / Commonwealth Vintage Dancers / Elegant Arts (society) / Royal Scottish Dance Society. Sorcy is a dance dork, yes she is.
Cra'ns -- Crayons, only pronounce properly. Bal'more accent? What Bal'more accent. I 've no idea what you're talkin' about! (The preceding sentence is actually a pretty good representation of how I talk. I throw around apostrophes pretty liberally, since I tend to arbitrarily shorten my words and occasionally slur them together when I actually talk. When I get patronizing, loud, or mock-pissed, my accent goes wicked south.
blag(ger) / interwob / adjective ass-noun -- All examples of the general xkcdification of my vocabulary. Just...go read the damn comic, okay? I don't feel like finding the links right now.
Wicked -- New England slang meaning "really" or "very". "Oh wow, your shirt is wicked cute!" "I am wicked pissed right now" "Man, it isso fuckingwicked hot out"
Awesomesexual -- What I am. It's essentially pansexual without the ties to greek mythology. I came up with it mostly because I got tired of saying "I like girls, and I like boys, and I like girls that used to be boys, and I like boys that used to be girls, and I like people who are both, and I like people who are neither, and I like girls who are boys on tuesdays and fridays, and I like princets, and I like dan4ths, and I like boys who jam gaydar, and I like werewolves with limp wrists, and I like straight boys who wear skirts and their dads, and..."
(This is not to say I've had crushes on all of the above. It's that all of the above is people who are crushable material --ie, friends who I didn't meet in elementary school. I'm pretty easy with my crushes.)
Polyamorous -- Also what I am. Poly, many; amorous, love. Many loves. Being able to love multiple people at the same time.
Girlfriend-in-law -- A contract mate's other significant other. It should technically be some sort of gender neutral terminology (or just metamour).
So, what words or acronyms do you commonly use that you don't think most people know?
~Sor
MOOP! -- My Word. It was originally the name of my planet, has grown to sortof encompass my worldview and the like. Always spelled in all-caps and with an exclamation point.
