Balticon Report, in Tweets. Part One. Shit I'm verbose!
So, like I did with my NEFFA report, this con report is going to be based around the tweets I made, with elaboration as I see fit.
Let's begin! Tweets are in italics. Timestamps are for wusses.
The adventure begins! I am in a car!
Um. Yes. YAY CAR!
Just passed the Timmonium MILF storage. (in-joke alert!)
So, Thursday, when mom and I were driving to the con, we pass the sign for the "Timmonium Self Storage". Mom goes "I thought that said Milf storage at first". I think this is unbelievably hilarious, largely because I sometimes have a very crude sense of humour.
I got to dance with two beautiful ladies at once! Today is an awesome day!
That would be
wiredslave and her girlfriend (Sonya and Celes). I think this was tweeted because of metareasons. Although getting to dance with Sonya and Celes at the same time is completely awesome, yeah.
David has made the grave mistake of handing me a terminator! I have been terminating all posts of things- bzzt!
Er, that should be "all sorts of things", not posts. Stupid phone. Umyeah. I was being silly while doing set-up for tech. It is pretty fun to poke things with the terminator and go "bzzt!" though.
I put the lights on an entire tree by myself! Now, to start the second...
This is one of several things that I am really really proud of myself for. I did not actually spend all that much time doing tech this year (set-up and Masque --some tear-down, but not a lot) but I got to do some very cool things. Putting up lighting trees was definitely one of them. Not only did I (on Thursday) lead a crew in putting the trees themselves together (again, yay for Sonya and Celes), on Friday, I got to attach all the lights. Fuck yeah!
Also, I really love my wrenches. They are really wonderful wrenches.
Seen JannyBlue! More importantly, had hugs sent to me! Glee!
I'm not actually sure that that was a more importantly, but it was a slightly more recent when I made the tweet.
But yes! Yes, there is always a
jannyblue at Balticon! This is one of the best things ever, really. She and I did not actually get all that much hang-out time, which is a bit sad, but I waved or blew kisses every time I passed the table, and I played lackey for her a couple times.
Yes, that means I am a lackey to a lackey. I would be ashamed of myself, were I not totally okay with the fact.
I'm focusing lights with @Werewulfmom! We're awesome
This is part two of the tech things I was really proud of myself for. Mom and I focused and gelled an entire tree together --I had never focused lights before in my life, so it was a very new experience. I enjoyed it, though I would have enjoyed it more had I not been completely worn out at that point.
Friday of the con was a little harsh on me because I worked, and pretty much did actual *work* for much of the eight hours I was in the tech room. Plus, there was some manner of room suckage, and mom's MS flaring up a little --hey everyone: Go throw your spare change into one of Team Greykell's tip jars. Seriously, Multiple Sclerosis sucks, and mom has to give herself a shot every single day, and my mother is way too fucking awesome to have to do that. Seriously.
[/plug.] But anyways, between the long hours, general suckness, and the anticipation-weirdness of getting to see Magus1 eventually but not yet...I was in a bad place. I do not deal well with anticipation, which really bothers me. I hate waiting to see people I like.
Just won two consecutive games of werewolf as the wolf. I am ducking awesome!
I...guess this must have been Friday night? Which seems weird timing, but okay, why not.
I talk a lot about the game "Are You A Werewolf" in this con report. That's because, like every Balticon, I played a *lot* of it. I love this game dearly, and Balticon has a really *really* good group of people for it. It helps that I am probably one of the best players at Balticon --glee, you know? And playing here gives me more time to try and figure out Marc's tells. Not that this is important to my continued happiness or anything.
Also, the first game was pure me being awesome. The second game was the players being a little stupid. Marc knows my tells, and is a damn good player. If he says I'm the werewolf, you should *probably* lynch me.
Good morning, universe. I am awake-thing. What do I wear today?
Saturday. Someone must've taken pictures of what I did wear today. *smirks like a smirky thing at Veronica*
'that is actually the second gay dinosaur in my collection'
So, you guys do know that I have the best collection in the world, right? I get famous people to draw me pictures of dinosaurs. Webcartoonists especially, but really, anyone who can hold a pen and I can get away with.
Soyeah, when I was babbling about how awesome Janny is, I neglected to mention that she was there because her boy Rob Balder was busy promoting the Funny Music Project and his comics and just generally being awesome. And I managed to get him to draw me a dinosaur.
...it's a pretty gay dinosaur, really. And yes, it is the second in my collection. Third, if you count the abfab one I drew. That's not in my binder though.
Being touched by that one boy... gods, it's not sexual, it's not a need for safety, it's just completely and desperately Right.
...
It was a really weird Balticon. It wound up being a really *good* Balticon, but in a lot of ways, it was a really friggin weird con. This was part of why.
I am going to write a proper essay about touch, later. But the gist is that most of the touches I actively seek from people are ones that make me feel warmfuzzy[friendship], warmfuzzy[sexy], or Safe. There is a particular boy I know who doesn't provide any of those (or provides all three?), I want touch from him because his touch is Right.
((This is not to say that there aren't other people who I'd rather have touching me at any given moment, or other people who aren't equally Right. Or differently Right. It's just that this one boy...I don't know. I hardly ever see him, and when I do, my brain switches focus from whatever it was directed towards to holding/being held by him.))
Also, The Chromatics rule, and Dr. Horrible was MEANT to be sung along to, yes
BACK TO CON REPORT!
Yeah, Saturday I actually did things! It was really quite exciting. I almost never do things at cons, except socialize, and play casual, unscheduled games, and go dancing, if I can.
OH! Speaking of dancing, there was a Steampunk Ball Friday night! It was really quite a lot of fun, and I really really enjoyed doing the Airship Pirates Quadrille. (created by Susan dG, to the logical song.) (((On the extreme offchance she's reading this, Suuuuusan! Zydrate Quadrille, yesyes?)))
Also, Stewart, who runs my friendly local game store in Maryland, and whom I adore, was there, beginnerish, and commented that he needed to learn more dance. "Well, there is this whole Oella thing..." sez I. So yeah, maybe I'll see him at dancing all summer, which would be rocksauce.
But yes, on Saturday, I went to even more events --I went to see The Chromatics perform, because they are ALL KINDS OF AWESOME2, and at some point after, I went to watch Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog with mom and Magus and Raven and SdG. It was my first time ever watching it in a big group of people singing along, and it was just *fantastic*.
At any rate, holy shit, it's both getting late and this entry is getting long. I'll post the other (next?) half of the con report in the morning or something.
I talk too much. :/

MOOP!
1: And Susan dG and Raven and Aaron and Mneme and probably a few other people I'm not thinking of right then...
2: Pan-Chromatic Afterglow, snickersnicker.
