Sometimes you read a line in an otherwise dry article and it's just so witty and perfect you can't stop laughing:

Octopuses generally only interact with each other out of aggression or mating instinct, and if the female is hungry those instincts may conflict. Basically, an octopus blind date is exactly like a human blind date

This sentence about octopi being terminal breeders bothers me: "they die soon after mating and only mate a handful of times during their lives".

...do they also die a handful of times during their lives?
