Because I like memes, and BadMagic is doing one worth stealing:

Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever)
Day Seven: Four turn-offs.
Day Eight: Three turn-ons.
Day Nine: Two images that describe your life right now, and why.
Day Ten: One confession.

Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.

1-10) I don't participate in these anonymously, due to past drama. I like reading other people's, but only when I am confident of not being any of the people within --I am too paranoid otherwise.

That being said, Veronica, your boy is awesome, Alys, you're beautiful, Ria, you're the best roommate ever, Rach, I wanna be you when I grow up, Mom, I'm *gonna* be you when I grow up, Sparr, thank you for fighting for the things that I think are important, Matt, I think I dreamed recently that I was at Kendall station and looking for you which makes me laugh, sir, how lucky am I to have you, Brenton and Magus, I can't wait to see you guys, mek, I can't believe I don't get to see you.

Day Two: Nine things about yourself.

1) I have a secret playground, that I have never brought anyone else to. Its formal name is Das Nonstop-Programm, which is a reference so subtle explanation would ruin it.

2) In the process of cleaning my room, I've found a few dozen AOL CDs. The original intention was wings, I think I may need to seriously work on that over the near future.

3) Speaking of crafting, there is a bolt of fabric and a pattern for beautiful flowy skirts sitting downstairs, waiting for Neva and Mom and Magus to help me put them together correctly.

4) I honestly worry about my stuffed animals when I'm not around to take care of them. Yes, I am pathetic.

5) I'm really only doing this meme such that I can boost my average on 750words.com. Because it really is the greatest website in the world.

6) I still want to put spaceships into space, just like my grandda did.

7) I own four pairs of shoes in this state. Three of those pairs are boots, all with slightly different YET EXTREMELY CRUCIAL purposes.

8) I found the pickle on the Christmas tree last night. It totally took like three go-rounds and eventually glancing at just the right angle. The thing was damn blatant too!

9) I really want a good escapist video game that I can throw myself into, ideally rogue-like, randomly generated, swords-and-sorcery (but mostly swords), and free. I also want INFINITE TIME with which to play it.

Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.

1) Dancing dancing dancing dancing dancing if I can't drag you dancing why am I even bothering?

2) Yeah, anything that will make me bother in spite of the lack of dancing. Aluminum cupcakes and printed whistles will do a lot here.

3) Places I've never been, where I am almost certainly not supposed to go.

4) Sushi! If you take me out for sushi, we are friends FOREVER!

5) I like men in kilts. I will probably never stop liking men in kilts, and yeah, I smile every damn time. This would be more embarrassing if kilts weren't so damn hot. Especially on boys with the well turned calves to really wear them.

6) Fight for the things that matter. Fight the kyriarchy. Fight your privilege.

7) It really takes me seven spots to list "common sense, for fuck's sake!" Because honestly. Intelligence is a delight, and so mandatory as to not even register, but if you can't figure out how to solve a basic problem, read instructions, or just google it, we're going to have issue. Logic is a blessing.

8) Cook for me! Set up a nice chair or a stretch of counter and just talk to me while you whip up something tasty. There are few things I find more comforting and Home-like.

Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.

1) Am I immortal yet?

2) Oh dammit, not this insecurity again.

3) What is the optimal route to do/get where I am going?

4) Damn that person's cute

5) "Stand back, I know regular expressions"1

6) I should totally make a livejournal post about that

7) How can I frame this in the context of an ADVENTURE!

Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.

Like BadMagic, I have more regrets for things I didn't do than things I did do. Furthermore, I've a long-established mental thing that the things I did --including the mistakes I made-- shaped who I am today and make me worth knowing.

1) I wish I had taken that stupid nap.

2) I wish I'd gone to the concert instead (okay, this is technically a thing that I did do, kinda)

3) I wish I'd told him earlier

4) I wish I'd told her earlier

5) I wish I'd outed myself earlier, and been able to be proud about it

6) This space intentionally left blank. --Not because of some BIG SECRET REGRET, but just because I can't think of anything to go here.

Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever)

1-5) You, you, you, you, and you.

Day Seven: Four turn-offs.

1) Bigots

2) Non-con & rape apologists

3) Drama

4) Illogical impracticality. (I'll take illogic as long as it's practical, and I'll take impracticality as long as it's logical, but both is right out.)

Day Eight: Three turn-ons.

1-3) Well documented on other parts of the internet.

Day Nine: Two images that describe your life right now, and why.

1-2) But I'm laaaaaaaazy.

Day Ten: One confession.

1) I haven't showered since the 25th. I'ma gonna go change the hell out of that now. Bye!!

MOOP!

1: I don't, actually, know regular expressions. But the sentiment behind that particular xkcd comic, in which every new skill I learn will be used to somehow save the day? I have that daydream _all the damn time_.

"If I have things to say to people, I say it to them, not publicly and stripped of names. This can cause too much drama-fear-wank, and I am just too damn blunt to put up with it."

Hmm. Perhaps it's because I just posted my own (anonymous) day one and have really enjoyed reading other people's (anonymous) day ones, but the above phrase came off as high-handed.

May just be my bias, but thought I should mention.

[identity profile] kdsorceress.livejournal.com 2010-12-28 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No, you're right, it was high-handed and I apologize. I went back and tried to soften it some, better?

Catch me on IM and I'll give you the whole story, but a lot of my revile for the "say things anonymously to people!" thing comes from the last time I did it, which was something like three years ago, and caused a ton of pain and strife for at least three people (myself included).

I certainly shouldn't have been so high-handed, as I do use this journal to rant about anonymous people sometimes, and enjoy having that option, when I can't otherwise (or am too scared to otherwise) talk to them.

I didn't mean to offend, and I liked seeing yours. I will give it my standard response (which is to assume everything is about me, because I'm too paranoid and egotistical not to) next time I get some internet time.

*hugs?*

::hugs!::

Don't worry. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I was offended; 'put off' is the strongest phrase I think I could use. The new version is totally inoffensive.

That said, it is okay to disagree with the ways that other people do things, and I would have dealt with an unchanged phrase. I acknowledged that my writing out Day One right before you posted this certainly colored my reaction, since the human response is to assume I'm being dissed -- which was not actually the case.

I absolutely understand how a meme like this can generate drama, and part of the reason I have enjoyed reading them so far is because I never had any reason to assume that I was being called out in any of them (in a bad way).

And for the record, you have nothing to fear from my Day One. All of my sad/angry posts are directed toward people who are unlikely to read or recognize them. The most scathing one is directed at somebody who cannot possibly read the post.

space is syntactically significant

D2#9: This sounds like family history I should know about! ...unless it's metaphorical or fictional or something.

I know a few regular expressions, but mostly I think they hate me.

CORRECTION: That was supposed to be D2#6. (I must have been upside-down due to the lack of gravity.)

...wanting...a video game?

Did you mean six, with the spaceships? 'Cause my mom's da totally helped put Apollo 11 on the moon.

Sing it sister.

Re: Day 7, I'm wondering if it's a bad sign that, lately, one of these for me would be "stabbity, stab, stab." (there is in fact a reasonable, non-violent-to-living-things explanation for this.)

[identity profile] herbertinc.livejournal.com 2010-12-28 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
yes. Day 4. Which has 7 things. Numbers are confusing.

[identity profile] tirerim.livejournal.com 2010-12-28 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Y'know, I actually do know regular expressions, including the theory behind them, and would be happy to explain them sometime if you're interested. They're really kind of fun, and involve some interesting logic.

"I found the pickle on the Christmas tree last night."

Uhh.. Is this a [yourlastname] family tradition? or is this a thing a lot of people put on their xmas trees? I have never heard of it before. I guess it's kind of like finding the afikoman at the seder? do you get a prize?

[identity profile] kdsorceress.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a German Christmas tradition, I think. Typically there's a special present for whoever finds it. See, pickles are all green, and blend in with the branches or something.
