...Ohdeargod, you took the serious bit, well, seriously.

The definition of polyamory is "loving more than one person at once". There are roughly a thousand ways to have poly relationship(s) within that structure, and nothing is really right or wrong solong as everyone involved is on the same page, and communicating and such.

Unlike the oft-used "primary, secondary, etc" relationship ranking system, I divvy my relationships into a handful of different levels: Boyfriends¹, who are people who I consider myself to be in a committed relationship with and who are able to be in a committed relationship with me, complications, who are anyone I've said "Will you be my 'it's complicated' on Facebook?" to and who I can't have a committed relationship with for whatever reason (including I'm just not that serious about them, or I don't believe they are able to give the time/social necessary to be that serious about me) and kissing friends, who are friends. That I kiss sometimes.

Generally, boyfriends are people who I love romantically, as can complications. Kissin' friends and some complications are just people who I want to bone.
