(no subject)

So, like I've said in varying places, I'm pretty much moved in. I spent the night in my bed and everything. It's totally exciting.

I've been really lazy about pictures this year, despite recieving a brand new (hand me down) camera from Dave and Diane for my birthday. They'll come eventually. At any rate, my room is a little cramped (but only a little) but all my stuff pretty much fits in it. We have a room with a closeable door, which is brilliant, of course. And I have a whole closet-thing to myself! Yay!

So I'm pretty happy.

I have at this point seen most of my friends, which is lovely. Ria showed me and Emily the first episode of Hetalia this afternoon --reaction = wtf, but I want more. The twins have a spectacular room on the next street up from me. My friend Erin is living in this house, and our friend Annika is not, but exhibited unbelievable enthusiasm for all four of the people living in Dock 101, plus Erin, so hopefully she'll be around a bunch.

I'm the token non-artist of the house --Molly is a photographer (specializing in turn of the century film development techniques), Liz is an animator, and Maddie is an art therapist. Or, in training for all of us. Give us a couple more years to get our degrees.

I am currently super-psyched about Liz --she's the roommate I know the least well, so I was a little nervous, but it turns out she is pretty damn geeky! Link of the day is the webcomic Happle Tea, which is absolutely beautiful to look at, and joke-a-dayish. It's also drawn by Liz's boyfriend.

Consensus seems to think that some variation of boxed is the least classy way to drink wine, but when I posed the question to Ria and the twins earlier, Ria brought up the idea of a shoe. I figure as long as it's like...a sneaker or something, and not a high heel, you're golden.

((I do really like [livejournal.com profile] siogai's idea though: Use a sharp/serrated knife to bisect a banana. Carefully scoop the fruit out of the bottom half, without breaking the skin. Hold the empty banana peel and pour your wine. Drink. Laugh.))

Gonna theoretically work more on unpacking now. Ta!

MOOP!

1: The room this year. Dock stands for Den of Chaos, with a k added on the end because it looks better. Yes, I pretty much told you exactly where I live, if you wanna be stalkertastic enough. It's not like Lesley is *really* a big enough school that you couldn't find me if you wanted.

completely off topic, but Tara arrived the other day and is fitting in well!

Yay! I saw in the post you mentioned, yep. I'm glad she's fitting in.

A shoe or a boot is so done, though. It's virtually chiche, and I wouldn't say it's low-class, but rather that it's done to show devotion by a suitor to the owner of the shoe/boot.

"Out of the box" is, in my opinion, like out of the bottle, which I think is fine. But people look down on boxed wine. So it's drinking low-class wine, not necessarily drinking it from a low-class container. Similarly, while mixing red and white is generally considered not a classy thing to do, it doesn't reflect on your container of choice.

The banana-skin is neat, but not really low class.

So which of your roommates -- Molly, Liz, or Maddie -- is the one mentioned in the last post?

Transposed a pair of letters, dear. Glad you're amused.

Oops! Fixed now. Serves me right for not checking.

I'm not sure the shoe was me

Though if you're sassy like Italy, a boot may be way okay

I thought of a new one: what about out of one's (or someone else's) hand, in the manner of toothbrush-time-water-drinking?
