I have not been impressed by the food, which is basically TV dinner quality. I'd really rather have a much more stripped-down experience with no dining car and a concomitantly lower price. We bring our own food. (Really, I wish they'd just bring back the sleeper cars with the bunks and curtains... although I can imagine the dining car might become important on a cross-country, 3-day trip.)
