Oh, and on macro cameras... I've really enjoyed my Canon Powershot S5, because it can do both telephoto and macro without needing interchangeable lenses, but I keep seeing people take amazing macro pictures with their *phones* of all things, and it turns out there are lenses you can just strap onto the phone. So that's maybe an option too.
