sorcyress: Drawing of me as a pirate, standing in front of the Boston Citgo sign (Default)

It's a complicated consideration for me, because I have pirated a *lot* of music from my parents --when I was in high school, I was slowly ripping my way through their CD collections, anything that seemed interesting. I don't have hard and fast numbers, but it may be as many as like 7k tracks (out of 10,814 currently listed in iTunes)

Obviously I would like the artists to get the money. But everything I've stolen from my parents, I've stolen via physical medium --one of them legitimately did spend the money on the CD at some point. So...*shrugs*. Mostly these days I just settle for not ripping other people's CDs anymore.

That being said, I am still all kinds of about actual mix CDs, with one or two songs per artist. That's a great way to pass music around.
