We all do need outside world relationships, you know. Regarding the first question....I'd go either way depending on my mood at the time. So I won't even bother to answer that one since I'd change it almost at random. Curling up by yourself is never social, even if you're talking to someone online. Social, by definition, involves actually physically interacting with people, ie occupying the same general space.
I'd say the people who are in your house do have more obligation for your time, simply because I know that many of the people you talk to online are awake at strange hours (for this time zone, anyway). The people in your house tend to only be there during certain time periods.
