Also in case you were wondering, It still sucks to be gay, especially in NC which has passed an anti-gay marriage amendment. WELL DONE, NORTH CAROLINA! PLEASE FUCK OFF AND DIE.
Actually, the legislature just voted to put it on the ballot for the NC voters to decide (during the Republican Primary in May) whether to put the amendment in our constitution. Which is also crappy and they were very sneaksy about not letting anyone know that they were trying to do this so people could protest appropriately.
We are totally fighting this with as much awareness as possible (Even the overseas Mel who hasn't voted in a local election in ages, is getting a hold of an absentee ballot so he can vote) and maybe we can stop this thing from actually happening. Sadly, my hopes are not particularly high on this issue. (The whole thing is ludicrous anyway. since same sex marriage is already illegal in NC :P)
Also, to add to the nonsense, the libertarians are more or less supporting this damn thing because, get this, "marriage itself amounts to big government." I. Kid. You. Not. :P You can read about it here. There's more, but i'm too irate to talk about it. Talk to W if you want more links ;P

Heh, W is exempt from any contempt (yay, rhymes!) 'cause she's Canadian-born (you could just tell, couldn't you? Waaay tooo polite to be 'mercan ;D). i can pretend that i am also exempt 'cause i'm half-Austrian, but my other half is pretty much native Durham (though, with roots from Wisconsin.. wait.. that's not much better considering what's been going on with the unions there >.>) ;P
