Harry Potter Fanfic Cosplay
So, you know the Geek Hierarchy Chart? I don't know where exactly "Person who cosplays a character from a fanfiction" falls, but yeeeeeeah. That is just how I roll.
But yes! For Vericon, a friend and I decided that it would be completely awesome if we went as Harry and Hermione from the wonderful and oft-recommended fanfiction Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality. After all, we kinda look like the characters, and what's the point of going in a costume that people actually recognize?
(For reference, people DID recognize us, which was mind-boggling and wonderful.)
Obligatory photo of the two of us in our battle fatigues, with the appropriate badges. Mine says Sunshine Army, his says Chaos Army. We really ought to scan them or get proper photos of them or something.
Also, we're not going to discuss how frantically these costumes were thrown together. It was pretty frantic. But still turned out pretty okay!
Me, as Hermione, being menacing with my wand. It is a truefax that everyone else using my camera is terrible at it. This is frustrating to me, and a sign that I need a more userfriendly camera. Or better friends.
Him, as Harry. Snapping is mandatory. And of course he has a real name, and some of you probably even know it and him, but for the sakes of google, I'm not attaching his name until he gives me the go-ahead.
Yeah, so, our Harry couldn't snap his fingers. Which is a HUGE DEAL as finger-snapping is kindof a crucial part of the plot. So we eventually gave up, and just gave him an impromptu seminar on how to properly hold his hand so he looked like he was about to snap his fingers.
