Hm, okay. What I got out of it was "Everything sucks, the world is a lot less light-hearted and funny than it was twenty years ago when I wrote the first ones, so I'll write 'funny' but it's not going to be nearly the same 'funny' as it was."

Admittedly, I'm willing to cut it an awful lot of slack just for the Perfectly Normal Beasts.
