[content warning: references (non-detailed) to vomiting]

I am still entirely flat. But I am flat at work, which is an interesting change from being flat in my bedroom. Downside: I can't just arbitrarily fall asleep every 10-15 minutes and nap for half an hour. Upside: I'm _not_ arbitrarily falling asleep every 10-15 yada yada.

Lemme back up.

My week was going mostly normal, and Wednesday was a mostly usual day at school right up until the very end, where I observed that my body was vaguely unhappy with me. I still had to go to the grocery store, so I steadfastly Did That, but it was an unsatisfying adventure, and ended up with me legitimately sitting on the floor while I waited in the checkout line, because standing was no longer in the cards.

Got home, dragged my laptop with me into the bathroom for the zoom meeting I had to go to, emptied my stomach of most of its contents (after making _really really sure_ I was on mute and no video). Continued for the next couple hours to make EXTREMELY SURE my stomach was empty of contents. Don't love any of this. In my flashes of lucidity/awakeness sent some texts to my boss and the person in charge of test proctoring to be all like "yeah, Thursday is not happening". Basically spent the entire time from 6pmWeds to about noonThurs alternating periods of 10-15 minutes awake with 20-90 minutes asleep. Had some wicked time dilation effects, where I finally managed to look at the clock late Wedseve, assuming it was going to be 3 or 4 in the morning, and was astonished to find it was only like midnight thirty.

Luckily, after about 8pmWeds, my stomach really was empty, and so everything else was just being incredibly tired. I spent all yesterday barely able to stand. I did manage to eat a very small amount of food, and drink some psudo-gatorade. My biggest accomplishment was consuming an entire potato (not a particularly large potato, mind, but I did eat all of it.)

This morning I definitely felt somewhat better, enough to shower and eat a proper breakfast and make it to the bus only 15 minutes late to work. Luckily work is Weird(tm) this week so it's not a big deal that I'm running late. Also lucky in that I don't have to do a lot of standing or moving around or very active teaching, because I am definitely still pretty run-down and low-energy. I made it up to the fourth floor for test proctoring, but I did pause on the third for a bit of a rest. That sort of thing.

I am really not keen on being sick twice in one year. Signs point more to food poisoning than norovirus (the fact that I purged for a couple hours but then was entirely done) which is good, but this is still not a fun or pleasant experience. Still washing my hands A LOT. Maybe I will recover enough through today that I can actually go to bells tomorrow? And see Tuesday, which was our original plan for this weekend?

Mostly it blows to have an entire day and a half where I don't _do_ anything. Like, I spent a lot of time on Bluesky, that was it. I didn't manage any work-related tasks and I didn't manage any satisfying fun tasks like reading or organizing music. Somehow, I did write my words, because it turns out I am really fucking good at that, even when I'm hardly lucid.

I hope your days are okay and your body does not arbitrarily turn traitor upon you.

Food poisoning is very yucky but there can be a gratifying feeling that one's body is doing exactly the right (unpleasant) thing - get that stuff the f away from me!
