Here's what I wrote to Tuesday about the holiday party I crashed! (by which I mean, was legitimately a +1 for Ezri). Apologies for the slightly weird formatting, but I can't be arsed to retype anything, it's getting late and I'm tired.

I went to the Museum of Science for Ezri's work party!
The food was deeply mediocre, which was disappointing
The highlight was the froufy cotton candy --all of which was labeled as organic (lol). I got the flavour mango chili, but skipped the chili powder. There was also cookies and cream flavour, with crushed oreos sprinkled on, and champagne (?!) with gold edible glitter
Food highlight, I mean
Getting a free pass to the museum tho was VERY GOOD because dang, I love me a Science Museum

Because it was a holiday party, 90% of people were in the loud atrium with the band and the shitty food, and the several bars, instead of in the quiet and calm exhibits, which is how I spent so long alone in Mathematica, just...existing in joy and peace

(ed: else-Discord I was squeeing about the fact that I got to spend about 30 minutes completely alone in the Mathematica exhibit, and by alone, I mean no one in that entire room --not electricity, not "new exhibits" nowhere. It was so fucking good for my soul. Just...genuinely a moment of everything being right, for once.)

But I also got to wander several other exhibits! I played with a lever at the physics playground, and I did a balancing exercise in the body exhibit, and I pet a bronze pigeon statue, and I saw an axolotl

And of course I went to the lightning show and it was very very loud and very very good and Becca who was in charge did a wonderful job and answered so many questions after

And I stopped by the gift shop and found a chrimbo present for Alys
Who it occurs to me is already getting like a million presents from me but oh well

Now we are on the shuttlebus home (boooo the T, but at least it's trying to do repair) and I will finish my words (these are part of it) and brush my teeth and open a die and sleep and then tomorrow is more things

Oh, and there was an arialist, right when we came in! They set up a like 16 ft silks frame and they had two people taking turns doing little simple routines and movements

In summation, public school parties are not anything like that (amount of booze that will be at ours: zero. amount of deeply mediocre food stations: zero. amount of quite good actually cookies because they're made by culinary students: approximately 1.5 per person. Amount of horrible ugly sweater contest: more than I would like.)

I'm disappointed the food was not as splendid as 2019, but Museum of Science which I really must get a membership to again. Hopefully before January when SamSam visits --I found out they've probably never been, and obvs that needs fixing.

I hope your holidays --parties or otherwise-- have good company, appropriate volumes, and food that is well beyond mediocre.

Oh man, being able to spend more than 5 seconds at any MOS exhibit sounds *amazing*. I've only ever been when it's packed.

Incidentally, we have a Basic 2 membership that's good until the end of April. 👀 We've used it a couple times and recouped the membership but really we should use it some more. Maybe I should just fuck off from work some day and go at 9 AM on a weekday by myself? But also if you want to go with one of us, just say the word.

I also have a membership that I have used for a few minutes at a time since 2020, like just to see one exhibit and bug out. If you want to do a brief stop after ringing sometime, let me know. (or you could go in with me and stay when I leave).
