State of the Social Media, 2017

Hi friends!! It's been a loooong time since I last checked in about this, and Russia has made an update Weirdly Relevant, so let's talk social media! I'm gonna post this everywhere I mention, except on Twitter where I'll just link it, because I do not hate my twitter friends that much.

SO! I use social media! Let's talk about which and how. This is going to be a real-person post, which means long and rambling. I may make a tl;dr for Facebook.

Livejournal:(KDSorceress) WELL OKAY FINE RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT. I WON'T USE THIS ANYMORE. Okay, no, realistically I have given up on online privacy *and* my Russian-speaking-friend who uses LJ doesn't seem to be bailing, but given that EVERYONE ELSE has pretty much finally bailed...it's time to drop it entirely, and that's a bummer. So I'm gonna turn off cross-posting (MASSIVE WINCE) and abandon the place I've updated at least once a month for the last 161 months1. That's over thirteen years, my livejournal is old enough to start its own livejournal.

But it's okay because I'll be finally fully transitioning to...

Dreamwidth:(Sorcyress Wooooo! Open-source! Community-controlled! Transparency and not randomly deleting journals and not run by a government that thinks Teh Gay is a major league problem and why was I on elljay in the first place? Anywho, DW is where I put long-style thoughts, and Real Serious Life Stuff! It's my (new) home. I have never given up on longform personal blogging, and I still love it more'n anything, and I want the rest of you to return to it.

Meanwhile, you can also find Real Serious Life Stuff on...

Twitter:(@Sorcyress) This is where I have been dumping my serious stuff in sortof the immediate, because...I...also don't have attention for longform blogging right now? Please see my eighty part tweet-saga on "does Kat have health insurance and/or medication for their ADHD this week?", which I have been performing 140 characters at a time for the last six months. Also, there's a *lot* of selfies. If you wanna see my face, you gotsta follow my tweets.

Tumblr:(Sorcyress My Tumblr is an uncoordinated cesspit, and I mostly just reblog stuff that I theoretically want to follow up on later somehow, but then don't. I really should stop using Tumblr. You are welcome to follow me there, I provide no original content and very little original commentary, but you might still find my curation cool or useful or something.

Meanwhile, on the offline side of the internet you have...

Facebook:(Firstname Lastname, go ahead and ping me privately if you want it) Facebook is what I use to speak to lots of people at once --lots of "hey I need a thing from y'all" but also it's the place where my party ideas show up and invites and stuff. I also post a weirdly high amount of genderstuff, because I remain eternally thrilled that Facebook lets me set my gender accurately and my pronoun correctly. Anyways, because Facebook has my wallet name attached instead of my handle, I also behave all delicately and professionally and whatnot. This means I don't swear on my own page2, and don't link to my handle!

Places I am no longer include: deviantART, Sluggy.net, any other forums...Iunno. The rest of the world I used to be on? Oh yeah, OKCupid, which isn't really social media and I never really used it, but I've pretty much wholly abandoned it. And that one bounty-hunter3 website that a certain subset of my friends list is thinking of, yes I still have an account, every few months I'll post a thing, but I hardly ever read or do anything else.

Places I am not currently that you probably are: Instagram (I haven't gotten around to it), Pintrest (I fundamentally object to their screwing up of Google Image searches), Snapchat (Technically I have one, every few months I remember to look at my sister's timeline, but I do not "get" it like at all)

Separate from social media, if you wanna get in touch with me, you can...

Text me! After two decades of fundamentally hating telephones, I finally got a tiny-pocket-computer-that-incidentally-makes-phone-calls and I like it very much. I like getting random texts, and will do my best to respond, if whatever my job is allows it.

IM me! I still looooove instant messanger, even though I'm not always the best at using it. When I am on the computer, I have access to GTalk and AIM (username on both: kdsorceress), when I'm on the phone, just GTalk.

Call me? Please...um...I mean, I like having phone calls very rarely with a smallish subset of the People I Like, so please don't randomly call me for conversation without pinging me otherwise first? But if that's a thing you like, I mean, try pinging me and we'll see!

Skype me! (Or Google Hangouts or whatever --the kleenex problem is coming for you, Skype.) I especially like utilizing this for the "I'ma work on cleaning my room and you work on cleaning your room" type stuff. Last big Skype chat I had, Tailsteak was inking or something, and I made a LEGO set! (my skype is Sorcyress, my google is kdsorceress)

Email me! Oooo, I love getting emails! I am _absolutely terrible_ at replying to emails. You will not bother me if you send me reminder emails to reply to your email. Seriously. It is good for me! (kdsorceress at gmail dot com)

Is there anything I'm missing? If you wish to get in touch with me on a social media I didn't specify, go ahead and email me at [insert appropriate email here]. Or leave a comment or whatever!

Yay social media!

1: Except two, back in 2005 because I was being a petulant and sulky baby.

2: My grandfather objects, and again, I try to pretend that Facebook is professional even though I have it locked up pretty tight privacy wise. Of course, it's sFB, so those privacy settings could randomly change any day now.

3: I am very clever! Do you like how clever I am?

So it's been about four years since I properly updated my wantlist, and my sister was asking, so here, have the newest version. (You can find all the old versions under the Wantlist tag.)

Obligatory Disclaimers:

1) No one ever has to get me stuff. Ever. I am both capable of buying my own stuff, and perfectly happy to not have stuff. No one has to, not parents, not partners, not friends, nobody. This post is only to help you if you do wanna get me stuff.

2) I am almost always poor, and absolutely always bad at buying presents for other people. I don't believe in gift reciprocity. I will get you things if I find things that work for you, but I am not likely to make a point of getting you things. If I get you things, you in no way have to get me things --see point one.

3) This is not a comprehensive list of everything I want in the world. Some of this list is very specific, some of it is kinda vague. Often I am happy with things that are similar (but not always). For more information on the sorts of things I like, see my Aestheticslist which needs a little updating (I am moving more towards solely pumpkin colours and away from red and purple, for instance) but is pretty accurate. I like pumpkin colours, spiders, and math. Do with that as you will!

Onwards! )

Whuf. Like I said in the disclaimers, I'm sure there's other things I want, but there's very little in my life I actually need and don't have, so this is a pretty good start!

So, if you are following me on this livejournal, you have obviously found me some way. But did you know that I exist in other places on the internet as well? You should feel no compulsion to follow me on any of them that you don't want to follow me on, but sometimes this is useful information.

Firstly, I have...many livejournals. Kdsorceress is the main one (and the only one with a dreamwidth mirror, at Sorcyress) where I talk about most of my life. However, there's also:

[livejournal.com profile] katarina_tales for stories and poems and other written things.
[livejournal.com profile] sorspeakswords for random babble/prattle --I mostly don't update this anymore and put that sort of thing in other locations.
[livejournal.com profile] sorcyress for thoroughness or something, I dunno.
annnd there are others but that's pretty much all the ones that are remotely public yep.

On Twitter, I can be found at @Sorcyress. On Tumblr, likewise, I am Sorcyress (and I keep a sexytimes nsfw Tumblr at EmmGlorious). All of those are pretty stream-of-consciousness random thoughts, and blinky-not-thinky.

If you want to see arty stuff I've done, you should check out my Flickr, which is where I put all visual media that I want to share elsewhere on the web. I used to keep a deviantart, but then they got shitty about gender so screw that.

I have a Fetlife, which is available upon request, but I try occasionally to keep it separate from my sorcy identity (or worse, my legal name). I also have an OKCupid, which is owned by my male half --it's here. I don't use it for its intended purpose. I'm...not really sure why I use it, actually.

If you want to chat with me in realtime, I'm on IM lots of the time --kdsorceress on AIM, and Yahoo, and GTalk. If you want to chat with me in slowtime, send me an e-mail --kdsorceress at gmail dot com.

And now you too have all the information that people get when I give them my card! *the more you know*

Basically a million years ago, I did this meme that involved naming who the major players in my life are and writing a couple words about each and then linking it in my userinfo so that people can have some context for my life. It's been a long (_long_) time since that post, so let's try it again:

Important Players in my Life )

If you are not in this post and feel like you should be, you should totally send me a whiny e-mail or comment. There's a lot of people I care about very much who I didn't mention explicitly --I tried to keep this post to the people I mention a lot in various capacities. This is also my update on a couple of pieces of information that hadn't been properly updated yet, because srsly, who has time to sit around on social media and change fiddly settings around constantly?

So jeeze. It's been what? Since 2009? Yeah, since 2009 since the last time I posted a wantlist.

And the last time I updated it was a year and a half ago. Ugh. So, I'm all a fan of having one convenient perpetual link, but I think it's about time for a rehaul, really. And more importantly, time for a reminder that I want stuff and no matter how complicated I am about presents, sometimes people insist on giving them to me anyways, and you might as well get it right.

Obligatory Disclaimers:

1) There is no social situation where I consider you obligated to get me presents. Not birthdays, not deathdays, not winter holidays, not anniversaries, not any other holiday. And this goes for everyone --my parents and partners are no more obligated to get me presents than the rest of you.

2) I am usually poor, often thoughtless, and generally shit at getting presents for other people. So if for some reason you're only into presents based on reciprocity, you doubly shouldn't get me anything.

3) This is in no way a comprehensive list of everything I want in the world. It's not even a comprehensive list of everything I know I want in the world. You can find more information on the sorts of things I'm into by browsing the "wantlist" tags on my livejournal or tumblr.

Onto the important part of the entry! Some things I would like at some point or another! )

This isn't going to be every post. It's just going to be a handful of important posts and snippets from the last twelve months. Ayep.

2010 in Review:

January

*I took a Big Step and told my mom one of the big bad secrets in my life. She was cool about it. (Filtered post)
*I made a post detailing the songs of 2009 that I had found particularly affecting. (Yes, I'm going to do it again this year, but it's pretty much just going to be "Bad Romance" written sixteen times or something.)
*I wrote about meeting one of the minor goddesses in my world
*I went to Arisia

Offjournal, I started dating Sparr (Arisia was our first date).

The next eleven months are under here! )

I'll try and do my traditional year-in-a-sentence at some point in January, but I currently have Marc over, and the number of people (distractions!) in my life is just going to increase over the next week or so. eep.

1: There is no one. Nothing leads to this note. Sorry.

2: I do not usually have a very good sense of what posts will be a hit and what will not. But every comment I got on this (on the post or elsewhere) was good, and there were a lot of them. I feel it was one of my better writing accomplishments of the year.

3: I would like to keep a central collection of links to public entries my friends and I have made about dance, gender, and costume. I already have a personal version, with links to some private posts. If you are okay with me posting a link to your words, or have a public writing on the subject you think I've probably missed (hint, most of them), let me know!
sorcyress: Drawing of me as a pirate, standing in front of the Boston Citgo sign (Default)
This was stolen from [livejournal.com profile] kittikattie as well --it's basically just a how-to guide for the Sorcyress.

Congratulations on your new Kat/Sorky/Sor! Here's some basic information to help take care of her, as you people are so wont to do!

1. How can I tell if you are angry?

I go quiet. If I am actually predominantly angry, and not merely emo or melancholic or panic attacking or generally directing the negative emotions towards myself rather than something else in the world, I go very quiet, and start to tend to strength positions --straightening the back, crossing the arms, and trying to stare people down. (yes, little ol' 5'2'' me.) The things that most make me angry are hurting or threatening those I care about, so making me angry tends to make me go into a touch of the mama bear mode.

2. How should I behave around you while you are angry?

If I am angry at you, apologize immediately, and explain that it was a joke and you did not seriously mean it. If it wasn't a joke, I will probably do my best to cause you grievous bodily harm. (You know, before I get snapped in two). If I'm angry at someone else, let me rant, and offer appropriate noises of sympathy. If I'm angry, I'm not looking for help or answers, I'm looking to blow off steam. Trying to provide me with help or answers, or daring to defend the person/institution I am upset at will redirect my anger towards you, quite quickly.

3. How do you want me to behave when you are hurting emotionally? (How is best to comfort you?)
If I am crying in front of you and not especially trying to hide it, congratulations. That makes you one of about four people in the last two years. Should that situation occur, you are to immediately, and without my prompting, wrap me up in a hug, pull me into your lap, and whisper sweet lies about how everything is going to be alright. If I want to talk about it, please let me, and feel free to interject with questions, suggestions, or advice as you feel necessary. If I'm crying, It's a problem that needs solutions, even ones as simple as "just wait a week and the status quo will be back to normal and you'll be fine"

If I am not crying, but have gone extrodinarily quiet and distant, and, most notably, if I do not wish to be touched (I will make this clear on the *very* rare occasion that it occurs, and please, with me the rule is always hug unless I've said otherwise. If you are my friend, you never have to ask permission to hug me unless I actively pull away from you) please just leave me be. Being humourous is a good way to pull me out of that sort of funk, but don't push, I will go find people/notebooks necessary to sort myself out.

Above all, if you have asked me once in an evening if I am okay, or any variant, you have used up your allotment for the time being. People repeatedly asking me if I'm really really sure I'm okay just makes me *pissed*.

4. Are there things we should ~not~ discuss?

What, in general?

Like I said, I'm a mama bear. I'm often very good at taking jokes and whatnot, but talking smack about Veronica or Aly is a very fast way to make me Very Angry.

Beyond that, I'm pretty easy with the world. I like people, I like situations, I like relationships, I like rants...if I like you, I will listen to your babble, whatever it's on, unless it's something that confuses me to the point of boredom. Rape jokes make me twitchy, however, and, while the level of freaked I get varies, my neck weirdness does tend to apply to both other people's necks and discussion of necks in general. Having no fucking neck, OTOH, is totally something to be ridiculed.

5. How should I treat you if you are physically ill?

That...doesn't happen a lot, really. I have far more than my fair share of spoons, and I really don't get sick all that often. In the very unlikely event I'm puking sick, putting up with me and running all the little errands (getting me toast, helping me keep my hair out of my eyes while I'm curled up in a little ball of misery on the bathroom floor, washing out buckets) will earn you a million billion points and make me feel really guilty that I can't do it myself. Regardless of what the physical sick is, get me some water to drink. Water is my placebo of choice. It cures everything!

I don't know if anyone actually has read to me when I was sick, but reading books from my childhood to me would probably make me the happiest damn thing ever.

6. What makes you happy? (that may be in my power to grant, as a friend?)

Humour. I laugh like it was going out of style, over the stupidest stuff sometimes.

I...seriously? Pay me attention. I'm far more of an attention whore than I will ever admit, and people noticing me both confuses and pleases me.

Hug, hug, hug, hug, hug, hug, cuddle, hug. Oh, and let me drag you dancing sometime.

7. How would you like for us to recognize your birthday?

WITH A PARADE SPANNING FROM BOSTON TO SAINT JOHN'SSAN FRANSISCO! AND FLAGS! AND PONIES!

Or, you know, by like...saying happy birthday to me. Toss some words or art at me, that'll make me happiest.

8. Are there any standing categories of presents that would be inappropriate or unwelcome?

Unless you are my parents, expensive presents are pretty much just not allowed. They will make me confused, and somewhat uneasy.

If you really want to give me sex toys, for some unknown reason, give me money and tell me to put it in my Liv fund. It _comes in bright green!_

Beyond that...I don't wear much jewelry, but if you find a good looking, plain ankh in any colour or material, I am all about that. I keep a semi-regularly updated present list in my livejournal. It's linked to in my userinfo, or you can find it by hitting the "permalink" tag, or you can simply click here

9. Are there times of the year that are difficult for you? (please explain if you are comfortable.)

I am a chronic procrastinator, so finals weeks tend to be stressful, and full of all nighters.

I tend to have a substantial panic attack in September/Octoberish, but I don't think that's a time of year thing somuch as situational.

The very end of November/beginning of December sucks. Hopefully this year it will suck less, and the next year less, and on and on until it doesn't suck anymore.

I often have either a severe low point or several small dips in the days immediately leading up to Christmas. I usually have a good Christmas day itself, but I've cried on at least a couple Christmas Eve's, or had to force myself very hard not to.

Any significant date involving my clone is going to be likely to make me sigh wistfully a lot and whinge about how unfair it is that she's on the other side of the country. Same with Veronica.

Also, leaving the people I care about or the city I care about makes me sad, but going to the city I love or seeing the people I adore soon thereafter usually makes up for it.

10. Are there important anniversaries that we should recognize in your life?

I was born 28 August 1989. It is the most damn important anniversary ever!

I usually do some sort of celebration for the day me and The Katters realized we were clones --January 30th.

Other dates that matter to me for one reason or another are 13 July, 20 February, 26 June, 2 December, 3 January, 24 or 25 January (depending on how literal I'm being), 27 or 28 January.

Significant birthdays include the birthdates of Mom, Aly, Veronica, Kat, Magus, and Gabriel. (I'm unsure of Gabe's actual birthdate, so we tend to call it February 28th. Alis's second birthdate is...lemme check...huh. Quite plausibly 30 Jan. Actually, yes, definitely 30 Jan. I don't have a set first birthdate for her.)

And of course, my death day is the 132 day of the year --June 18th, most years.

11. Who are the most important people in your life to whom we should defer when making plans on your behalf?

Me.

I do badly with planning things in advance, unfortunately. But I generally tend to defer to whichever event I was told about first, with the general rule that my parents have first dibs until I'm independant, you cannot have my Monday nights, they are MINE! *hiss*, and fen > nonfen when trying to get me to hang out with you.

Butyeah, mostly just my parents. And me.

WEBCOMICS I READ, because it has been a *very* long time since I made any variation on this post, and because Dan4th1 was asking the other day.

So, this is pretty much my "Sweet, Sweet, Daily Comics" bookmarks folder. Maybe later I'll add on the "Sweet, Sweet, Daily Blogs", and if I decide that it won't freak people out too badly, the "Sweet, Sweet, Daily Porn".

(It's worth noting that most of these things aren't daily. Learning how to use an RSS feed worked wonders for my reading habits. It's also worth noting that this is the SSDC folder, and no, not everything is a comic.)

xkcd --Stick figure art about science, math, romance, and language. Honestly, if you've not heard of it by now, I'm gonna be a little bit surprised at you.

Questionable Content --One of my favourite webcomics ever, and very plausibly one of the ones I've been reading the absolute longest. --I started following it well over 1200 comics ago. Slice of life, twenty-somethings. Don't let the early art scare you off. Also, I more or less talk like this comic, so if you ever wanted to know where I got my annoying habit of ALL CAPS EQUALS FUNNY or somesuch, look no further.

Narbonic (with commentary, for a spoiler-free run of the comic, go here) --Narbonic is EASILY one of my top five comics, ever. Also, it is going to be my birthday present to myself, once I stop being lazy and actually order it. I should do that, and soon, because *man* do I love this comic. It is full of MAD SCIENCE!, and has pretty much become my canon for such things.

Skin Horse --the current project by the woman who wrote Narbonic (and a cohort), it has slightly less mad science, and slightly more crossdressing. It's a sequel only in that they have the same "feel", and also well worth reading. Alsoalso, Oz references.

Order of the Stick --The comic to read about D&D. Cute, colourful art. Definitely in my top five.

Something*Positive --Cynical as all fuck, swears a lot, really really good, top five.

Multiplex --set in a movie theatre, nice clean art.

UglyGirl --Holy shit, this is one of the loveliest comics I have ever read. It's a really good high school outcast comic, and it has QueerBoy, and ee!

Shortpacked --set in a toy store, by the guy who did It's Walky. Cerebus'd successfullyish with the pulling of the Drama tag.

College Roomies From Hell --Kinda partially belongs on the "ones I don't currently read" list --it's been a really long time since I've *cared* about CRFH. But yeah. Slice of life *college* aged comics, as opposed to twenty-somethings.

Menage a 3 --Man, I do not even know. Like...half the characters annoy me in vague ways, and it is hella trashy. It just still hasn't lost my attention. Plus, you know. Tits. (NSFW)

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal --SATURDAY MORNING BREAKFAST CEREAL! SHIT YES! Totes funny comic, sometimes in my top five.

Girls With Slingshots --further adventures in slice of life twenty somethings! Girl centric. Also, pretty unabashed about masturbation and sex and boobs, which is all kinda nice.

My Cardboard Life --The art on this one is amazingly charming. It's a very sweet comic.

Playing With Dolls --Side project of the girl(?) who does Templar, Arizona --fantastic little Sims-drama-trainwreck comic. Really *really* funny, does not update nearly often enough --I have seen maybe one update in the like...year since I started following it.

Dar! --Fantastic autobiographical comic about a lesbian and her husband.

Tailsteak --Guy-who-did-1/0's current comics project. Does not update often enough, but is awesome. By the by, if you have not ever read One Over Zero, go read NOW! It is *definitely* in my top-five.

Snowflakes --Written by the guy who does SMBC, set in an ophanage. Still trying to decide how I feel about it, but I think I enjoy it.

The Bare Pit --Set in a nudist resort. Technically NSFW, though brilliant in that it's pretty much completely a G or PG rated comic, solong as you ignore the fact that most of the people in it don't wear clothes. Also does a fantastic job of having people who are shaped like people, and not like supermodels and movie stars

Belm Blog --My friend Dave's blog. Lots and lots of stuff about music and cooking.

Rixosous --My friend Susan's blog. Lots and lots of stuff about...stuff. Currently a lot of theatre.

Cracked --Cracked was originally a humour magazine (similar to Mad Magazine), has now become one of the collectively funniest sites on the internet. Updates with two or three new lists a day, and yes, yes you should go read everything.

The Funny Music Project --The Funny Music Project. Free downloads twice a week, some of which are fantastic. Lots of filkish things. Big archive of listenable music. Createdish by Rob Balder (Guy who did Erfworld)

Shirt.Woot --It's like woot.com, only it does shirts. Where I get a lot of my wardrobe, actually.

11 Points --Just a funny little blog that makes me giggle. "Because top ten lists are for cowards"

Happle Tea --Happle Tea is drawn by one of my roommate's boyfriend. It's cute. Lots of giant animals.

Two Lumps --Kitties! That's about all I have to say on that.

Surviving the World --A cute scientist guy writes lessons on a chalkboard every day. Tooootally worth archive binging

Girls Only --a comic about a feminazi high school where the main characters are four boys who pretend to be gay in order to get special privileges from the girls (EEE YAOI OMG sort of thing) I have no idea what I think of it yet, and vaguely feel like writing a post just about it sometime.

Little Mell --About the character Mell, from Narbonic, as a child. Like everything associated in any way shape or form with Shaenon Garrity, it's a good thing.

Shrubmonkeys --Entertaining autobiographical comics

Hark! A Vagrant! --KATE BEATON WRITES COMICS ABOUT HISTORY AND THEY'RE AWESOME!

Amusing.org --I have no clue what's up with this. Seriously. It just...is something to check every day.

Least I Could Do --About a group of twenty-somethings. Main character gets away with everything ever. Lots of sex. Is funny.

Poly-Rhythms --My friend Foster's blog about polyamory and whatnot. So...yeah.

So Damn Bright --I don't even know --something I just picked up along the way, and haven't hated enough to drop yet.

Kingdom of Loathing --Gahhh. How old were we when KoL was the Big Thing? Tenth grade, maybe? Yeah, I was digging around on my computer, and found something about it, and started playing again. It's a browser based adventure game. Highly entertaining, quite worth playing a bit. Also very excellent in that it limits the amount of time you can play there.

The current count for that folder is 41 --the ones I didn't link here are Craigslist (which I read for the best of list), El Goonish Shive (which I don't read anymore) the Nerdfighters wobsite, and a close friend's secret blog.

YAY COMICS!

Frequently Asked Questions:

(No seriously. Every single one of these questions I've been asked more than once, and some of them often enough to be frustrating.)

*Where are you going to school?
Lesley University, in the Boston area. It's tiny, and surrounded by Harvard on three sides. That's why you haven't heard of it.

*What's your major?
Secondary Education Math. I want to be a high school math teacher.

*Woah. Are you crazy?
Pretty much, yeah. Mostly I'm just sick of shitty math teachers. I could do a better job than some of these guys and I don't even know the material yet.

***

*What is with your prediliction for older men?
God, there's no way to answer this that doesn't sound wicked egotistical. Look, I tend to feel...apart from my peers. On a higher mental level. Been this way for ages --I've preferred talking to adults over people my age since middle school or earlier now. So it's pretty much, at the most basic level, these are people on the same page as me. That's a good thing.

Also, they generally know how to cook, have their own living spaces, cars, jobs, etc so they can take care of themselves, have interesting and potentially useful life experience, and are usually beyond the whole "OMG DRAMA!" thing.

*Isn't that creepy?
Define creepy, man. Oddly, I think it's more creepy for an early high schooler (14-15) to be dating a college student than for me (a late high schooler/early college student) to be dating a guy who's been out of college for a bit. Look, again with the egotistical, I'm pretty damn mature. I'd like to think that I can pick guys who aren't complete sleezebags.

*Are you dating __________?
Probably not, no. I'm a big time flirt, so a lot of the people who I seem to be partnered with (Veronica, Jeremy, DarkEric) are just really good friends of mine.

*Will you be my girlfriend?
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

That's totally flattering, but probably not? Sorry? Shit, now I have to go feel like a horrible stuck-up person for a bit.

*Awesomesexual?
"I like girls, and I like boys, and I like girls that used to be boys, and I like boys that used to be girls, and I like people who are both, and I like people who are neither, and I like girls who are boys on tuesdays and fridays, and I like princets, and I like dan4ths, and I like boys who jam gaydar, and I like werewolves with limp wrists, and I like straight boys who wear skirts and their dads, and..."

It's pansexual without the ties to greek mythology. I don't list as bisexual partly because I don't believe in binary gender, but mostly because being a college aged female bisexual has such a negative connotation to it. No, I actually really do like girls. Really.

*You're poly?
Yeah. It works for me.

***

*Will you clean the catbox?
Sigh. Yes mom.

*Will you get me a sammich?
Sigh. Yes Kat. Only if you share it though. :D

*Will you get me ice cream?
If there's some in the house, yes. Ice cream bitch and all that.

***

*How long have you been growing your hair?
I cut my hair to just past my ears at the end of seventh grade --May or so 2002. It hasn't grown *that* much in the past year or two, but yeah. About six years growth.

*How much shampoo/conditioner do you use?
Probably too much since I never really learned how to wash it right. *Holds out her hand, draws a circle on the palm* This much, twice. No idea what that is in ounces.

*How long does it take to brush?
Depends on how long it's been since I last brushed it. Five or ten minutes if it's been brushed in the last 48 hours or so. It has taken upwards of an hour --I try to avoid letting my hair get to that state, but sometimes I get wicked lazy.

*How long does it take to dry?
I generally wash my hair at night and it's generally dry by morning. It takes longer when it's really humid out. I'm a horrible person, and tend to wash it more in the summer --I sweat more, which makes it grosser, and if it's wet, I can go outside without my head freezing.

*Is your hair a pain in the ass to take care of?
Naw, not really.

*Are you planning to donate to Locks of Love?
Nope!

*Why not!?
Because I'm a horrible selfish human being, that's why. Also, been there, done that. I really really like my hair, and I don't forsee myself cutting it off anytime soon for anyone.

***

*You have a younger brother?
Yeah, Nik. He's not as extroverted or as dramatic as my little sister, 'swhy you don't hear about him as often. He's pretty rad though. Good at video games. Also not ever allowed to have sex, but he hasn't really expressed much of an interest, so I don't have to yell that at him all the time.

*You have a father?
Yes I have a father. My parents have been married for 21 years, and they're still happy together. You just don't think I have a father because every time you've visited the house, he's either not here (at work or on a business trip) or he's curled up in the corner, reading.

*Is he [Paul, DarkEric, Bruce, Dan, etc] your dad?
Naw, he's a family friend. Our house is kinda a party house. We have lots of men my fathers age running around.

*You're older than her? [Veronica]
Well, only by three days, really. But yeah.

*You're older than her? [Aly]
...BY FOUR YEARS, DAMNIT!

Seriously, just because she's six inches taller than me and has a bigger shoe size and is cuter and more outgoing than I am doesn't mean she's older. Damn you all.

***

*Have you read this book, seen this movie, or heard this group?
Probably not, no. I am woefully pop culture deprived. If you have a recommendation, let me know!

*pixplz?
...no. Just no. Well, maybe. How well do I know you? How fabulous is the picture you want? If it's the scandelous picture of me in my little black skirt that I sent out to half the internet (read: five people, two of which are primarily androphiles.1) than no, no you can't have it without me knowing you pretty well. If it's, say, just a regular old picture of the Sorcyress being fabulous, than you can probably find a couple in my flickr.

*Why do you have a towel?
It's a hitchhikers reference. They're damn useful, don't you think?

*Where did you get that hat?
My friend Harena made it for me. Isn't it awesome?

*How long have you been dancing?
SCD: About six months now. It was weekly, until I came to Maryland. OHBUTHEY, Monday night is tomorrow and I am so going then, YAY!

Contra: Heh. Not very long. I kinda learned in a weekend near the end of April.

Swing: Oh god. I spent like...a summer learning bits and pieces, but I've always been irregular about this one.

Waltz: What, seriously as opposed to just as a ten year old? Six months or less.

Other assorted ballroom: Eh. Pick, either about four months or about eight years. If the latter, it's been fairly irregular, but kinda there. If the former, that's when I started doing it, you know, as a serious hobby rather than just a thing.

*Woah, crazy scar! Where's it from?

Heart surgery when I was two and a half. Funky valve or something, ask my mom --she's the one who can actually remember what was wrong with me.

*Would you like to go out for sushi sometime? I'll pay, of course.
...'kay, I lied. That's not actually a frequently asked question. I only wish it was.

Oh yeah, and the answer is "Yes. Yes I would."

So I think you should all write an entry briefly describing the main players in your life and then link it from your userinfo/journal so that people can reference it in future. It would be handydandy. (Stolen from OKat, through friends of hers)

Sounds like a plan to me! Lets go then:

Real Life Family:
Mom: Mom is...mom. She's also [livejournal.com profile] werewulf, whic not everyone realizes. She is the coolest person I have ever met in my life, and I would LOVE to be like her someday. She's also EVERYONE's mom, so that's cool too.

Dad: Dad is a much more absent member of the drama that is my life. He's around though, and he's pretty cool when he is. He's much more introverted then mom, and more type-A. He is going to help me create my roleplaying world.

Nik: Nik is my younger brother (Who just turned 15 yesterday...bytheway HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHANIE AND NEVA!!!) who is a wiz at video games and a bit of a dork. I get along really well with him though, especially when it's just the two of us walking home. We talk cool stuff.

Aly: Aly is my younger sister (turned 13 in April) who is a complete and total Drama Queen. She's amusing though, most of the time, and the two of us can get VERY silly sometimes. (EDIT: 12Nov2k6: She now has an elljay! Go read over at [livejournal.com profile] tolkienkookad.)

Additional Family: (ie, people who are over at my house a LOT)
Veronica: Veronica is my best friend of nearly ten years. I love her more then a lot of other people, and am willing to do a LOT to protect her. (I've definently been known to threaten people who make innuendos I deem inappropriate to her) She goes by [livejournal.com profile] drama_angel3189

Eric: Eric is a tall skinny band-geek who is my cuddle-bitch whore boi. (Damnit Eric, that just doesn't have the same ring to it!) He's one of the shed bois, and I rather like him. He has a very fuzzy head, especially just after he is evil. (EDIT: As of 20/June/2k6, he is dating Veronica) (EDIT: As of sometime before 21/Dec/2k7, he is no longer dating Veronica.)

Chris: Chris is the second of the shed-boys, and one of my unofficial ex's, along with, I dunno, Rohan. I have a remarkably unofficial love life. I adore him too, and he gives some of the best hugs EVER. So that's yay for him.

Josh: Josh is one of the few teens who I actually think of as an older brother. He's a serious kung-fu boy, and the third shedboy. He gets mad at me when I steal his shirts, and flirts with mom a LOT.

Jaimee: Jaimee is the most amazing person I have ever met besides mom. I love her dearly, and most of the time, she's my older sister. (EDIT: 12Nov2k6: Jaimee my darling sister is now better know as Nathen my darling brother. Also, find him at [livejournal.com profile] musikmaker21

Blue: Blue is the name I most commonly use for my girlfriend. Yeah... And by girlfriend, I mean ex. July 13 2k5 - June 25 2k6. Just under a year. *sighs* So goes life.

Ksatyr: Ksatyr ([livejournal.com profile] ksatyr) is one of those crazy brit-type who somehow wound up in this country. He is good fun and a huge flirt, both of which I support. He became my boyfriend on February 22nd 2007. He became my ex-boyfriend on December 2nd 2007.

Spam: Spam ([livejournal.com profile] madbodger) is a terribly awesome guy who I hang out with when I get the chance. He let me borrow a truly sexy little laptop called Tabitha for NaNoWriMo 2006. He rules.

ShadowKev: ([livejournal.com profile] shadowcaptain) ShadowKev is the one who first took my virginity. Perpetual hurrahs for the Rocky Horror Picture Show. He continues to be my ride to all things both Satanic and Mechanic, and for that he most certainly deserves a mention.

Koob: Koob is amazing. He is five as of this writing, autistic, and fun. I used to babysit him. I'm depressed that I don't anymore, but hey, it's all cool I suppose.

College People:

Grace: Grace is my roommate. She's exceptionally mellow, more normal then I, and our social groups don't cross at all. We get along very well though.

Lauren: Lauren is pretty much my best friend at Lesley. She's full of hackeysack and snark. Her and her twin sister, Emily, are much more pure then I am. *evilgrin*

Emily: Lauren's twin sister and my next closest friend. She has a boyfriend -Ty- and tends to be slightly more prudish. She is the more goth of the two.

Dominik: Austrian vampire gentleman. Very good friend of me and the twins. Totally more sexual then us girls. Totally the luckiest guy on campus. Stalkable. Smoker.

Mary: Dominik's girlfriend. Short, shy, quiet, nice, generally non-jealous.

Madeline: My first friend from Lesley. Total dyke. :D

Jess: Friend with which I do Interesting Things. Hippy enviromentalist lesbian.

Beth: Senior(?) drama girl, big, curvy, BEAUTIFUL, awesome.

Online People:

Katters/Crackers/OtherKat/OKat/Kat/RTC/etc... is my clone. She's also the person who I'm mentally closest too, and most open to (Sorry V) Also also, she's the one who taught me that it's feasible to miss someone you've never met. She is also a huge part of my mental stability, and knows better then near anyone how to dick that up, mostly because she's seen what causes me to go into little mental breakdowns. I write her letters when I'm sad, which makes me no longer sad, and I then neglect to ever send them, in order to avoid making her sad. I love her quite a bit platonically, and enjoy flirting with her though I'm not stupid enough to get into a relationship with her since she's pretty much my best friend and I reeeeeally don't want to dick that up. I perpetually owe her presents as I'm too lazy to ever get off my arse and send her her holiday/birfday presents, though I often have good ideas of what to get her, and indeed, have the presents sitting in my room for months on end. Important dates with her include March 31st, May 10th, and January 30th. She is also the Ford to my Zaphod, and is the only other person who knows the TRUE meaning of the phrase "Kilt-Ford makes happy."

Thorog: Tho is a New Zealand orc-pirate who I've recently started chatting seriously with. He's great amounts of fun, and even greater amounts of snark. He wants to grow up to be just like Davan from Something*Positive, if I'm remembering correctly. I'm quite fond of him in several ways. Fear my retroactive powers of crypticness --who actually rereads these? Besides me, of course. I'm just too cool not to go back and look at them ocassionally. Tho is full of awesome at any rate, and quite good at keeping me from being melencholy. He has also geased himself to proding me ocassionally and chatting.

Magus: Magus is *technically* not an online friend, but that's really the only way I know him these days. I met him at Origins, and remet him at Balticon. I'm also his minion in The Zombie Game (Shameless plug...shameless plug!) (EDIT: 12Nov2k6: The Zombie game is no more. *tear*) Also, he gets several trillion points for swinging by the 06/7 new years party --yayforthat. Now lives in the same city as me --YAY! The whole same-city thing is awesome, just because it means that I spend copious amounts of time over there, relaxing and hanging out, and having someone who I trust that I can talk to and bitch to. He's currently the closest thing I have to a best friend in Boston.

Drummer Dude/Sherman: Since I've just about given up on narrowing it down to Alex. Sherman is quite practically the guy who *taught* me how to flirt, at least onlines. Much glompage to him. :D

Kyu: Sometimes a friend. Sometimes not. Blows up planets. (evil!) Fairly wonderful. Going to be famous someday.

Harena: Potential adopted child. Poingy, wonderful, momish, knits. Awesome.

Ky: My half-sister. Totally awesome. Potential incestuous relationship. Met through OtherKat. Speaks better German then I do. Looks good in bondage.

Erika: My grandmother. Introducted to me through OKat. Ky's wife. Obsessed with Czolgosz.

Zeebs/Zebra: Just this guy, you know? Found on DevArt through OtherKat. Lives in Maryland. Pretty much completely awesome. Is to blame for the Assassins zeitgeist. Katters fiance.

Computers:

Dmitri Alexander II: Dimi is my computer. MINE MINE MINE HAHAHAH! He is a Dell (ick) and a PC (ick) but he's what I got, and I know how to use him, so hey that's good. I love him dearly -he's a sweetheart, even if I have had him since eighth grade.

Tabitha: Tabitha is Spams beautiful little powerbook G4 that I got to borrow for NaNo2k6 She rules. I want a mac sooooo bad.

Sergei: Sergei is mom's primary laptop. Yep!

Serenity Freiheit: Seren is my macbook. <3 EDIT: Le dead. Fucker.

Vera Serenfreude: My new MacBook. The not borked one.

Denizens:

Gabriel Denise de MOOP! is my pseudoangel guardian. He's the most rational, and most submissive of all the denizens. He fights with Her the most, and likes practising his swordforms in his spare time. He has no interest in sex and is so stubbornly straight that everyone thinks he's gay.

Mallory Alis de MOOP! is my guardian bitch. While Gabe's job can be defined as pulling me out of the pit, Alis's can be defined as keeping me from sinking deeper into it. She is ocassionally a slut, and ocassionally a prude. Gabriel is her best friend, and she dissapoints him with her ocassional sluttiness. Has had sex with Hyde, this annoys both Gabe and her.

Edward Hyde: Is. Well. Edward Hyde. Yeah. He's an asshole. I don't actually keep him around willingly, he just is around. Forcefully entered my mind when I fell in love with the song "Alive" from Jekyll and Hyde. Hasn't left.

Zaphod Beeblebrox: Drunk two headed ex con ex president of the galaxy awesomeness. He rules. Hoopiest damn frood in the entire world and a DAMN good drinkmaker.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern: Are not actually dead. Hang out in my mind on ocassion and cause quickly shifting chaos. Have no set appearences. Hyde *hates* them.

AbiGail: Not around very often. Librarian and pseudoangel. Had a fling with Hyde, which ended when she faded.

And of course, there are about eight billion other people who I keep up with and catch up with, repeatedly. I fall in cycles with who's the most important, or at the very least, taking up most of my focus. Which, currently, is this lot. Subject to change without warning.

And if I get any whiny "Why aren't *I* on that list" I reserve the right to bitch slap you, either physically or verbally. That was your one warning.
